About the Artist
Tatyana Bogdanova creates artistic ceramics using the Glaze Relief technique and has developed her own distinctive visual language based on the interplay of colour, relief, and botanical ornament.
Her work combines the traditions of decorative arts, botanical motifs, and intricate relief glaze painting. Colour, texture, and the movement of lines merge into a unified composition, allowing each ceramic piece to be perceived as an independent work of art.

About the Artist
Tatyana Bogdanova was born in 1987 in Omsk, Russia. In 2010, she graduated fr om the Institute of Arts at Omsk State Pedagogical University, specializing in Decorative and Applied Arts with a focus on Artistic Ceramics.
After graduation, she worked in the field of architectural and monumental ceramics, participating in the creation and decoration of ceramic elements for churches, public buildings, and interior projects. This experience gave her a profound understanding of ceramic materials, firing technologies, composition, and the relationship between ceramics and architectural space.
Over time, her artistic practice evolved toward the creation of contemporary studio ceramics.
Yantra Keramika
Yantra Keramika was founded by Tatyana Bogdanova in 2009. In 2019, the studio established its own workshop and production space in Saint Petersburg.
Today, Yantra Keramika is an artistic project dedicated to creating original ceramic artworks for interiors, private collections, and exhibition spaces.
Every major stage of production is carried out in the studio—from concept development and form design to relief glaze painting, glazing, and firing. Each piece undergoes a long and meticulous creative process and is crafted predominantly by hand.
Works by Yantra Keramika are held in private collections both in Russia and internationally.
Artistic Approach
At the heart of Tatyana Bogdanova's artistic language lies Glaze Relief, a technique of relief glaze painting.
In this technique, the image is created not only through colour but also through physical relief. Coloured glazes are applied by hand in carefully controlled layers and, after firing, form a textured glass-like surface.
Petals, leaves, fruits, and ornamental lines rise above the ceramic surface, interacting with light to create a rich play of highlights and shadows. As a result, each composition possesses both painterly and sculptural qualities.
Since 2009, Tatyana has continued to develop this artistic approach, exploring the expressive potential of glaze as an independent sculptural medium.
Nature and Ornament
Nature, flowering plants, cultural traditions, and decorative ornament remain the central themes of Tatyana's work.
Rather than depicting plants in a botanical manner, she transforms flowers, leaves, and fruits into elaborate decorative compositions wh ere natural forms merge with rhythm, symmetry, and ornamental abstraction.
Many of her works are intentionally multilayered. At first glance, the viewer perceives the overall composition; only upon closer inspection do subtle lines, veins, delicate glaze transitions, and fine relief details gradually emerge.
This gradual discovery of the image has become one of the defining characteristics of Yantra Keramika's artistic language.
From Decorative Object to Work of Art
Tatyana creates both functional ceramic forms and works intended exclusively for exhibition and collecting.
A plate, vase, or ceramic vessel becomes a space for complex artistic composition. Their purpose extends beyond functionality, as form, surface, and relief painting merge into a unified work of art.
Particular attention is devoted to large-scale and experimental works that explore the limits of ceramic material, firing processes, and the relationship between ceramics, interior spaces, and exhibition environments.
Studio and Handcrafted Process
The creation of a single artwork involves several consecutive stages:
- concept and composition development;
- form preparation;
- drying and the first firing;
- hand application of coloured relief glazes;
- second high-temperature firing;
- quality inspection and preparation for its future owner.
Depending on the complexity of the work, the process may take anywhere from several days to several weeks, while large exhibition pieces often require considerably more time.
Even when the same design is recreated, no two works are ever completely identical. During firing, glazes naturally change in colour, transparency, and surface character, giving every piece its own unique identity.

Tatyana Bogdanova regularly participates in Russian and international exhibitions, art fairs, and contemporary decorative arts projects.
Her works are created for private collections, exhibition spaces, cultural institutions, and commissioned artistic projects.
